Healthy Lifestyle Events
Recreation Services under the Curtin Healthy Lifestyle banner organise a number of activity based events throughout the year. We aim to promote fun activities and encourage participation during the work day to help address work/life balance issues such as stress and poor health.
- Freeway Bike Hike annual event attracts over 7000 participants and is a feature event of Bike Week in Perth. 2008 will be the second year Curtin has entered a Corporate Team and this year Curtin VC, Jeanette Hacket is leading the charge to increase our participation numbers.
- Bridges Fun Run is a community fun run comprising a 5km event starting in South Perth and the traditional 10km starting and finishing on Langley Park. More than 2000 participants either run, jog or walk their chosen distance. 2008 will be the second year Curtin has entered a Corporate Team.
- City to Surf is one of our most popular annual events held in August, which attracts a large population of the University as well as their family members and Alumni.
- Curtin Community Golf Day has a huge following as we move into our 17th year of organising this event. Staff and associates are encouraged to form groups of 4 to play Ambrose Golf. No experience necessary as the whole day of fun and prizes is based around participation, not skill. We enjoy a brunch and take advantage of the networking opportunities in the after event presentations.
- Inter-Departmental Sports Challenge has been a huge success this year with teams battling it out in various sports to win points towards the Inter-Departmental Sports Challenge Cup. This new series of social fun activities will culminate in a perpetual trophy presentation to the highest scoring team across all activities at the end of this year.
The Curtin Healthy Lifestyle Program also support Other Opportunities that promote exercise.
